Interesting ideas on people-centric villages

Modern suburbia is driven by developers who’s primary goal is to make money. Sure, there’s some altruism in some of them, but I have experienced more often than not that their only demonstration of altruism is to establish a reputation – so that they can make more money on future developments.

“When places are designed by other people than the people who live there, and then the people who live there are powerless, then that is a broken design.” This is what Andrew Millson states in this video.

Of course not everything he presents directly reflect what the people of Castroville want, or what’s functional in South Texas, my big takeaway from this is that every idea he presents and every concept he proposes is centered around PEOPLE and COMMUNITY. This is the way we should be approaching everything around development patterns in our community – centered around the people – not the cars, and not about the balance sheets of developers – not around the designs that are meant to keep us separated, but around the designs that help bring us together.
